Swiss Insurer La Mobilière to close Irish based Insuretech Companjon
martedì, 1 luglio 2025Following a detailed review Swiss Insurance company la Mobilière has decided to discontinue the business activities of its Insurtech B2B operation Companjon in Ireland. The decision is in line with la Mobilière’s strategy Avantage 2030 and a stronger focus on its core insurance and pensions business in Switzerland. The existing insurance portfolio shall be placed in run-off, subject to approval by the competent authorities.
La Mobilière founded the Dublin-based insurtech Companjon in 2020 with the aim of opening a new line of business and gain insights into the behaviour of customers and partners in the digital insurance business.
“After gaining several years of experience with embedded insurance abroad and recently developing a new corporate strategy, we came to the conclusion that the further development and scaling of this business area is not in line with our strategic focus on the core business in Switzerland,” says Michèle Rodoni, CEO of la Mobilière.
The existing embedded insurance policies, the vast majority of which have short term liabilities, will be run off, subject to appropriate approvals by relevant authorities. This announcement will have a significant impact on the approximately 60 employees, of which 34 are based in Ireland and the others across Europe, Companjon has commenced a comprehensive consultation process today with its staff.
In addition to its internal consultation, Companjon will also work closely with its business partners and the regulatory authorities. The consultation with its employees and business partners will determine the specific timelines of the run-off and la Mobilière is committed to a smooth transition process.
